The Songs of Sam Cooke & Stevie Wonder – Starring De Thomas
Enjoy this high energy, poignant, funky and nostalgic show featuring the songs of two legends. Sam Cooke songs include: “You Send Me,” “Cupid,” “A Change is Gonna Come.” The second half of the show features Stevie’s hits, including: “Superstition,” “Higher Ground,” “Ribbon in the Sky,” and more of your favorites! This show has some of the best songs that have ever been written, performed by a spot-on band and a great singer!Lannie originally wrote the show for singer, Freddy Gowdy of the famed Freddi-Henchi Band, but Fred had to leave the show after only one performance for emergency surgery. Unable to complete the run of the show, Lannie was left in a quandary. What to do? (note: Fred is recuperating nicely, safe and sound.)
The amazing performer/singer, De was hired to take over the show. De stepped up, learned the show in three days and not only did it but, did he ever! His opening night he amazed us all with a show that knocked the audience off their feet (Lannie said she should say, knocked “ON their feet,” as dancing in the aisles was spontaneous!). De sang the songs like he’d been singing them his whole life, told the stories of Stevie and Sam, and charmed the audience with his charisma and stage presence. The perfect fit! De sang like Stevie, he danced like Sam Cooke. The audience loved him.
De Thomas is an accomplished singer, actor and performer. He has starred in productions of: “Swing” at Boulder’s Dinner Theater to rave reviews, starred as “Simeon,” in the Christmas show, “One Bethlehem Night, ” and was featured in the acclaimed Shadow Theater’s production of “Uncle Jed’s Barbershop.”
He has worked, performed and recorded with some of Colorado’s elite, Blues recording artist, Otis Taylor, the legendary, Hazel Miller, Ron Ivory and Sheryl Renee.
De will continue the show Fridays through November 16th.
Don’t miss it!
