Health Care for All Colorado Fundraiser starring The 17th Avenue Allstars

May 21, 2013
7:00 pm

A top notch night of amazing A Cappella voices to

benefit Health Care For All Colorado!

More information at:

Health Care for All Colorado

Please join us for this FUNdraiser for Health Care for All Colorado, the leading organization working for a publicly-funded universal health care system for all Coloradans.  This wonderful evening will feature the award-winning a cappella singing group, The 17th Avenue Allstars.

ABOUT HEALTH CARE FOR ALL COLORADO

HCAC is a 501(c) (4) nonprofit social welfare organization which began in 2001 in response to the increasing numbers of Coloradans who are not able to secure basic health care in our current health care system.  HCAC views health care reform as both a human rights issue and an economic necessity, advocating for the adoption of a single-payer system which ensures that all Coloradans have access to affordable and comprehensive health care services.

The 17th Avenue Allstars are celebrating over a decade as one of Denver, Colorado’s top musical acts singing contemporary a cappella.  The Allstars have performed across the United States and opened for National Acts such as: BB King, The Temptations, Mel Torme, and Robert Cray. The Allstars were named the official anthem singers of the Denver Broncos.  The 17th Avenue Allstars put on a tight, high energy show, full of beloved nostalgic tunes like: Blue MoonI Only Have Eyes For You, In the Still of the Night, classics like, Call Me Al, by Paul Simon, The Footloose medley, Love Shack, by the B-52′s and put harmonic twists on current hits like, Maroon 5′s, Sunday Morning, Los Lonely Boys, Heaven and Knarls Barkley’s, Surprise.“With wonderful arrangements and minimal but effective choreography, it is not surprising to hear that the Denver-based ensemble was proclaimed “best a cappella group” in the nation by the National Harmony Sweepstakes, the “Super Bowl” of a cappella contests.

Join us in supporting Health Care For All working to:

1.  Inform Coloradans about advantages of the (public) single payer system of financing health care

2.  Create a coalition to develop strategies for achieving comprehensive, affordable, high quality health care for all Coloradans

3.  Build a grassroots movement that will campaign for single payer system in Colorado

John Denver Tribute Show – John Adams Band (as seen at Red Rocks)

May 24, 2013
8:00 pm

John Denver’s music is honored in this great tribute show

- as seen at Red Rocks!

The John Adams Band is the only group that provides their audiences with an authentic John Denver tribute concert.  They perform the music the way it was written, recorded, and performed by John Denver himself.  This group of musicians are not just co-workers, but share a friendship and mutual love for this music that transcends just the music.

ABOUT JOHN ADAMS

John Adams met with John Denver over a dozen times and interweaves the stories he and John shared throughout this concert as he takes his audience on an unforgettable journey back in time.  John has been performing music of the beloved, Mr. John Denver, for over 30 years.  He has performed this touching tribute show to sell out crowds all over the world, from China, Africa and Europe and did his tribute at the famed RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATER along with the Colorado Chamber Orchestra just last year.

John even had the privilege to perform alongside John Denver for a television special, and after hearing Mr. Adams perform, he was invited to record with the legend himself.  Unfortunately, due to the untimely death of John Denver, the recording they started was never finished, but John Adams continues the music and legacy of John Denver in the show you will see.

THE SHOW

With songs like, Rocky Mountain High, Back Home Again, Annie’s Song, and Country Roads, you’ll be transported back in time to enjoy the beautiful ballads and other songs of our Rocky Mountain Legend, John Denver.

Don’t miss this heart-warming, nostalgic and musically uplifting performance.  John’s beautiful voice and skillful guitar playing are reminiscent of Mr. Denver and he’s backed by a fabulous band, complete with velvety vocal harmonies.

Eddie Johnson’s All in the Family Band – (oldies, goodies and gorgeous harmonies!)

ALL IN THE FAMILY is a project for Eddie Johnson, his son, Michael and his sister, Patti Wimmer who do it for the joy of singing and performing with family.  When they come together it’s a labor of love and a three-part harmony blend that is only found when families sing together.  Their song list includes unique arrangements of music from the ’60s to the present including the songs of the Eagles, Crosby, Stills, and Nash, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, The Everly Brothers, and the classic Country songs of Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Patsy Cline. Michael brings in a taste of Arlo Guthrie, Van Morrison and others.

ABOUT EDDIE JOHNSON

Eddie Johnson has been a constant talent on the Denver musical scene since 1969 when he and his pal, famed Nashville artist, Gary Morris, teamed up to create, “Gary and Eddie,” better known as “Taylor’s Cowboys.” They landed a job at Taylor’s Supper Club and played there for 5 years.  Gary moved to Nashville and enjoyed great success as a Country artist and even starred on Broadway as America’s first Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables!”

You might also know Eddie Johnson from his time with a group called, The Lawmen. The Lawmen were all former Jefferson County police officers that played music for civic functions and service clubs.  Their act was wildly popular with the crowd at Taylor’s.  He and his Lawman pal, Bo Cotrell, opened a nightclub in Glendale, Colorado called, “Bo and Eddie’s Saloon and Home for Wayward Cowboys.”  Bo and Eddie shared the stage with many old friends and stars such as Jimmie Rodgers, John Gary, Mel Tillis, Dottie West, and others.
