Lannie and her fabulous quintet, The Errand Boys of Rhythm, are at it again with a brand new tribute show that Lannie calls, “Beatles to Bacharach:  Songs of a Generation.”  Lannie pays tribute to the music legacy, the songs of, The Beatles and Burt Bacharach, undoubtedly some of the most prolific and brilliant songwriters of the baby boomer generation and beyond.

ABOUT THE SHOW

In the first set, Lannie and the band give a nod to The Beatles’ songbook.  Lannie has chosen a collection of beloved tunes that range from ballad to country, from pop to rock.  Arranged by Lannie’s musical director/piano player, Justin Adams, the songs are new interpretations, but will still resonate with baby boomers, as well as young and old alike.  The lyrics, the melodies and the soul are all intact.  The music promises to warm your heart and bring back memories of the 1960s.

The second half of the show is all songs from the brilliant, Burt Bacharach.  From the literally hundreds of hit songs that Burt and his lyricist partner, Hal David have written, Lannie chose an assortment that will remind you of the prolific talent of this songwriting team.  She opens the set with a funky version of “Walk on By,” and closes the show with an audience shout out of “What the World Needs Now.”  You will hear familiar Bacharach tunes and a couple of his more obscure tunes that you might have forgotten.

As always, Lannie will weave stories and the history of the artists in between songs throughout the show.

The costumes, the backdrop, and the stage have been specially designed by award winning designer and friend, Kevin Copenhaver.  The show will have a 1960s/’70s look and tone.

Join us for an evening of incredible songs and warm memories.  Whether you grew up with these songs or became a fan later on, their magic is sure to move you.

The show is open to ALL ages.

Singer/Cabaret artist: Gia Mora’s “Sweethearts & Singletons”

Gia Mora turns her wit and intellectual prowess on an unlikely pairing of human languages–math and love. In her hilarious cabaret, she explores love in the digital age on a journey to the edges of the universe and the interior of your heart. She combines beloved standards with new songs and stories guaranteed to thrill and edify singletons and sweethearts alike.

ABOUT “SWEETHEARTS AND SINGLETONS”

Gia Mora is a nationally performing actor/vocalist.  In “Sweethearts and Singletons,” she brings us a new and delightful cabaret show that investigates the ‘science of love’ in the 21st century using two completely different human languages–mathematics and music.
Journey with her as she gleefully explores the nearly indescribable beginnings of the universe and its mortal counterpart, the mysteries of falling in love.  Through a diverse collection of songs, stories, and silliness, Gia contemplates the realities of dating in the digital age–cyber stalking, sexting, spaghettification, and more.  Her show is a perfect reminder for singletons and sweethearts alike to laugh and make the most of every moment.

“Gia Mora constantly surprises with her many talents.  She is a gifted singer, lyricist, dancer, comedienne, actress and somewhat of an expert on theoretical physics.  She soared.” – Cabaret Scenes Magazine

ABOUT GIA MORA

A Colorado native, Miz Mora returns to Lannie’s with her fourth cabaret show.  She is a versatile performer who has headlined at venues across the United States including the M Bar in Los Angeles, Blues Alley in Washington, D.C., and Germano’s Trattoria in Baltimore.

Grand Illusions: The Music of Marlene Dietrich, starring: Janice Hall

Many performers have “done” Marlene Dietrich, but none has offered her songs more richly, more movingly and with lovelier singing than…petite and elegant Janice Hall.”  -  Peter Haas, Cabaret Scenes Magazine

Denver’s own Janice Hall brings her award-winning show, “Grand Illusions: The Music of Marlene Dietrich”, to town!  Winner of New York City’s prestigious cabaret Bistro Award in 2011 and winner of the 2012 MAC Award (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) for Best Female Vocalist, Janice’s “Grand Illusions” celebrates the life and legend of one of the most fascinating women of the twentieth century.  Marlene Dietrich’s musical repertoire included songs from the Weimar cabaret, jazz standards, folk songs, antiwar songs, French chansons, and, of course, her famous film songs.  Musical selections in the show include songs by Friedrich Hollaender, Cole Porter, Lerner & Loewe, Fats Waller, Robert Stolz, Charles Trenet, and Pete Seeger.

“Grand Illusions” was directed by Bistro and MAC award-winner Peter Napolitano.

In writing about “Grand Illusions”, critic Roy Sander observed: “Some of her interpretations achieve a status beyond merely wonderful; they are memorable, unique, standards against which other renditions should be compared.

Best known for her appearances in opera houses around the world, as well as locally, with the Central City Opera, Janice Hall is now making a name for herself in the worlds of New York cabaret and theater.

Miss Hall was recently seen off-Broadway in the play “My Confession of Sin,” by Monica Bauer, and is currently starring in her second cabaret show, called, “I’d Rather Be Doing This…”
