“Is ‘bluegrazz’ a word?,” wonders All About Jazz writer Florence Wetzel, in her rave review of Katie Glassman’s SNAPSHOT.  She adds, “Perhaps it should be.  These songs emanate from her inner musical world;  they’re not simply jazz songs recast in a country way or vice versa – she has melded her muses and truly created her own language.”

Katie’s debut CD, entitled SNAPSHOT, was recently released on March 6th.  Now you can come hear her amazing music live at her CD Release Concert!

Katie Glassman has gained great reviews, setting her performances up for supportive audiences around the country.  Glassman’s music is tagged as vintage jazz, western swing and bluegrass.  Her singular ability to blend tradition with contemporary color comes to the fore on this set of beguiling originals, which simultaneously capture the vintage, sepia-toned feel of her childhood experiences with old-time music and fiddling contests, and the fresh sophistication of her jazz studies and year-long sojourn in France.

Jazz, swing and bluegrass form SNAPSHOT’s frame;  Glassman’s agile, luminous vocals give it texture.  And, her National Fiddling Champion chops give it doses of dynamite.  It’s difficult to picture Katie’s band in color, though the music is newly written, it takes one back to the nostalgic roots of swing music.

“No one else in Colorado is doing anything like this.  The project is unique and so is Katie’s voice.”  – Chris K., The Colorado Sound
