NYC Pianist: John Colianni Quartet- Swing & Jazz!

A night of swing and jazz!

Most recently, pianist John (“Chops”) Colianni was featured with the Les Paul Trio, appearing Monday nights at The Iridium, carrying on Les Paul‘s long-time gig. Each week, guest guitarists like Stanley Jordan, Mike Stern, Jose Feliciano, and Larry Coryell appear in tribute to Les with the Trio.

At nineteen, John toured the world as Lionel Hampton’s pianist. He was Mel Torme’s pianist for six years.

Has recorded with Mel Tormé, Lionel Hampton, singer Cleo Laine and many others.

The late, great guitarist, Les Paul offered the piano spot in his group to John in August 2003. Les had not used a pianist in his combo since the 1950s and, in looking for suitable candidates, sought the advice of guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, who recommended John. In Les Paul’s recent autobiography, “Les Paul: In His Own Words,” Les writes an appreciative description of John’s playing style and musical contributions to the re-vamped Les Paul Quartet. John is also seen and heard on the PBS documentary, “Les Paul: Chasing Sound.”

John’s newest CD, “Johnny Chops,” produced and distributed by Patuxent Records (Rockville, Md.), is John’s first release recorded with the recently formed John Colianni Quintet. Other new recordings include: a duo album with guitar virtuoso, Larry Coryell (on Patuxent Records), due for release in the Fall of 2010; John is also both pianist and arranger on the new Jazz album from pop star Steve Miller, also due for a 2010 release.

“Tremendous piano jazz … a phenomenal show stopper … technical skill, warmth, application and understanding.”

– Jazz Journal International (London)

“Consummate piano virtuoso … truly individual voice … unerring sense of sophisticated swing.”– Jazz Times

“He is the essence of a swinging pianist … a sudden flurry of complex runs can be finished before the listener is fully aware of what is happening.”– The New York Times

Pete Martinez: Nashville Recording Artist

Pete Martinez
Sings Hank and Haggard!

Nashville Recording Artist PETE MARTINEZ will perform songs by Hank Williams and Merle Haggard, two artists who influenced Pete’s sound in Country music.  Come hear one of the most authentic Country entertainers in the west perform an intimate evening of traditional country songs together with selections from his recordings as well.  This is a rare opportunity to hear Pete and his guitar create music that is pure and clear in an intimate “unplugged” format.

On the back of a bull or at the front of a stage, Pete Martinez is no stranger to the rodeo scene. This true blue Country recording artist closed out the year with performances at the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas and the World Championship Ranch Rodeo (WRCA) in Amarillo, Texas in November 2008, and the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December 2008.

Pete’s music so impressed Wrangler that they became his official sponsor. He recently recorded a new album in Nashville titled, I WOULD FOR YOU. The first single off the album, “I Hear You Knockin’,” became a hit in the dance world when a team of its most renowned instructors (Jo Thompson, Barry & Darry Ann Amato, and John Robinson) choreographed a line dance to the song. The dance and the single debuted together in January 2004 at the World Dance Championships held in Nashville, TN.

Lannie Garrett’s Hilarious “Patsy DeCline Show!”

HELD OVER by POPULAR DEMAND!

Lannie Garrett stars in this tongue-in-cheek spoof of all the big haired Country queens of the 50s and 60s.  This is NOT a Patsy Cline tribute, but a rollicking, rawhide celebration and tease of everything Country.

Lannie, a.k.a. Patsy, is backed by her loyal pedal-steel driven quintet of FABULOUS musicians, and together they do honor to the Country classics of: Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, George Jones, Tammy Wynette ….with a few hilarious and campy takes on some other favorites, too.

With hair as big as a tumbleweed and her dazzling rodeo queen costumes, Patsy will have you rolling in the aisles with her take on life on the road, ex-husbands, hit records and her bawdy, bumpy life in showbiz.

The Denver Post said:  “Laugh all you want…this woman can sing.”

The Rocky Mountain News said:  “…whether you love country music or hate it, you will love this show.”

AND:  “If record labels had any sense, they’d sign Miss Lannie up for real, she’s that good.”

THANK YOU DENVER!

Patsy’s last show for the season is Sold Out!

Patsy will see you next year at Stock Show Time in January 2011 – Yee haw!
