Andryn Arithson’s “Alice Crypt”

Written and produced by Andryn Arithson

Alice Crypt was first conceived in 2004 after a group of friends dressed as characters from the original stories for Halloween. Long fascinated by the tale and its possibilities for the stage, Andryn began work on the script in 2007. The success of the 2008 production inspired this new musical version. So….

Come down, down, underneath the ground for a devilish night of laughter and excitement. In it’s second year, Alice Crypt is a dark musical comedy sure to thrill and chill audiences of all ages. Gigantic puppets and original music make this a unique take on the famous Alice stories. In place of the familiar set of characters, Alice encounters the prophetic Boatman, a ravenous Vampire, a skeletal Cheshire Cat, and a mysterious monster…lurking in the dark.

In the words of the Queen:

I delight at the sight of a creature in fear
Such a striking expression, such screaming to hear
So impressive is the passion of the hardly dead
It makes me feel like playing with your pretty head
The prey must run, run, run and hide
And try to get rid of all their lust and pride
For these qualities, so human and trite
Will never help them get, to the surface and light!

The fiery C.May Nickel will play Alice and lyrical diva Ariel Haan slays the role of the Cheshire Cat. Jill Rahall returns as the maniacal Queen of Wasps.
